The first thing you notice about Tokyo is that it's exactly like any anime cartoon you have ever watched. Now I am not much of an anime fan, but I have watched my share of cartoons of the years. Remember the hum of the cicadas in the cartoons? My sisters and I had a field day with those bugs. We stood next to the trees and tried to look between the trees to get a close look at the things. It was fascinating and maddening at the same time. The only difference between modern day Tokyo and Anime Tokyo is that the modern day Tokyo comes with Starbucks, Subway, and all the world wide favorite restaurants and cafes to go.

The second thing you notice is all the amazing fashion styles. The Japanese women are not afraid to experiment. For more information, pick up a book called "Japanese SchoolGirl Inferno" The Tokyo teen fashion subculture handbook. I wish I had this book back when I was in Tokyo, but I picked it up much later when I was in Osaka. I was reading "On Borrowed Time" By Paul Monette in Tokyo. It’s a very touching aids memoir about the writer and his lover, Roger.

I'm going to keep this update short, so I can add more pix. I took some random pix of girls wearing Lolita and Gothic costumes, and much more. Enjoy!

Ciao!
