Mi morena story

And so my love, from my window I can see
A beautiful vision and when the music plays
Your body rises like a bird of grace.

Mi Morena, I saw you dancing in the rain
Holy water, shining like a silver flame
Come like a ghost. I will watch you dance alone
Mi Morena, you’re the light within my soul

And so my love, the way you’re moving in your dress
Tonight on the tides on wings of silk and lace
You lift upon the notes and slip away

Mi Morena, I saw you dancing in the rain
Holy water, shining like a silver flame
Come like a ghost. I will watch you dance alone
Mi Morena, you’re the light within my soul

Take this cross of feathers and bone
Take this heart I’ve carved in stone
In your name…

And where the setting sun surrenders
To the moon, mi carida I wait for you

Mi Morena, I saw you dancing in the rain
Holy water, shining like a silver flame
Come like a ghost. I will watch you dance alone
Mi Morena, you’re the light within my soul

Mi Morena, hold your hands up to the night
Be my lover, I will fall into your eyes
Sweet fire of love, for you I’d steal the stars
Cuz I adore you, oh my morena

I love this song…there is this paegan feel to it that takes my breath away. Whenever I hear the song, I keep playing around with this story in my head. So here is one version of the mi morena story…lol I keep telling it to my friends

In a kingdom far away, there was a castle by the sea. In the castle, there was a prince being groomed to become king. Now he was a man whose duties weighed heavily on his shoulders. He really cares about his kingdom and making a difference.

One night, he sat in the balcony worrying and trying to imagine what his late father could have advised him to do. He wondered if his father felt nervous about carrying such a huge responsibility. A lot of people counted on him, to make sure the country was ruled well and his subjects well fed. That’s when something caught his eyes.
The castle was situated on a cliff and down below there was a shore where the water pounded the rocky shore. He saw her dancing in her white gown. He saw her blonde hair like strands of silver in the moonlight. He felt his heart lurch and his breath caught. He was spell bound by this fairy.

He heard her voice on the wind. She sang and when she did, he knew that her voice would haunt his dreams. Night after night, he watched her as she walked along the beach. Sometimes she’d lift her skirts and just run with the abandon of those who knew that no one was watching. She’d lift her voice and sing with freedom and joy. Sometimes she would dance, pretending to waltz with someone and he felt himself being touched at the childish gestures.

He had fallen deeply and madly in love with this beautiful fantasy spun out of moonlight and water. She couldn’t be a water sprite, or could she?

He was hypnotized by her, all through the night he watched her as she climbed the rocks and laughed.

He found himself wanting to share in her joy and in her freedom when she sang and so he found himself singing to her one night. He stood on the balcony and sang the mi morena song. He sang of his passion and his longing for her. She looked up at him and sang back, her voice joining with his.

And so they sang, making sweet love with their voices until the day that the prince was crowned and had to choose a bride.

The new king felt himself being torn. More than anything, he wanted to rush down to his water sprite and propose to her, but fear held him back. The fear of making a wrong decision. I mean, what did he know about the girl anyway. He only had his dreams and fantasies of her. What if…What if reality let him down?

He couldn’t risk it. He would rather the girl stayed a beautiful dream than have her become tainted by cruel reality, and so with that in mind, he married a princess from the other kingdom.

On the day of his marriage, He stood on the balcony waiting for his water sprite. She came but this time without her usual frolicking and merry making. She gazed at him somberly. It was raining and she stood there wet and shivering, hugging herself and looking up at him.

Her reproachful gaze broke his heart. He didn’t know how to explain. He floundered looking at her, but she smiled and waved. She lifted her gown and walked away, never looking back.

The king married his princess and had a wonderful life with her, but he often thought of her, that girl who stole his heart in the moonlight.

The end
